Autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder in children that causes impaired children's communication and socialization abilities. Nobody really knows the cause of autism, but there are ways in how we can detect the early autism in toddlers

Actually, one can start to detect the symptoms of autism in babies since the early days. For example, babies with autism tend to limit eye contact. They also tend to be less responsive, if not at all, when their name is called. However, recent studies show that parents can start to clearly detect the early signs of autism in toddlers between the age of 2 to 4 years old.

In general, there are three signs of Autism Speaks. These signs might vary depending on each child’s situation, so it is always advisable to consult with a professional.

  1. Communications
Parents can start to notice signs of autism in toddlers when they see that their child has difficulty in understanding basic communication, such as speaking or understanding gestures. Usually, parents would find it hard to start a conversation with their autistic child, as the child doesn’t understand the purpose of words of instructions given by others.

  1. Social
Another sign of autism in babies or toddlers can be seen by their social skills. An autistic child may seem to have difficulties in socializing with others. They may look too busy in their own world, making it difficult to connect with people around them. Sometimes they also appear to be less responsive, or sensitive when it comes to interacting with others.

  1. Behavioral
Last but not least, there are a couple of behavioral issues that can be used to detect autism in toddlers. An autistic child may only like to consume a particular food, they may get emotional quickly for no apparent reason. Additionally, they may also perform certain actions or movements repeatedly. Sometimes, they tend to do some activities that may put themselves in danger.

Communicating with a child with ASD is not easy, but it is doable. With early detection of autism behavioral therapy, parents can do several interventions that can help to reverse the situation and help their children to overcome their developmental disorder. When it comes to dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder, it is always best to act early. Consult with your pediatrician or medical professional to seek help.
